Aporia:powstała w 2004 roku na bazie zespołu Akcyza, w którym to większa część obecnego składu wydobywała swoje pierwsze dźwięki. Po niespełna roku od powołania nowego tworu, po ciekawych przygodach, koncertach, niezapomnianych chwilach i niestety również po kilku problemach i nieporozumieniach zaistniałych wewnątrz kapeli, drogi zespołu oraz Hansa (bas) rozeszły się. Jesień 2005 była okresem niepewności o dalsze losy. Rozterki zniknęły wraz z pojawieniem się Mrówy. W czerwcu 2006 roku w wyniku współpracy z przyjaciółmi z zespołu Dobry Dzień zostaje wydany split obu kapel.

Another yet to be among the best crust band from Pacific region. And dare to say that they throw some unique crust tune from both bands. Pazahora is from Singapore and play melodic driven crust, rock out and have this similar sound with band like tragedy, or from ashes rises. It getting better and better, with more anthemic slogan and the structure became better from day to day. 5 songs overall and its sweet. While crux deliver another 5 songs that have this strong stench feeling inside. Imagine bands like amebix, sacrilege or newer one sanctum, you will get the answer. Sometimes they are fast and throw some mid pace crust but all the time, they are heavy. The vocalist anna do work hard on pulling out a full expression with a lot intensity and energy while singing and all in all this is very good stuff.

Banda de Virginia, más concretamente Richmond, que se formo en el 2000, y que practican un crossover thrash y que esperemos sea un nuevo resurgir de este estilo tan añorado y que dejo tan gratos recuerdos en los 80/90. Nos hacen recordar a grupos como D.R.I, Suicidal Tendencies, Crumbsuckers, M.O.D. incluso en algunas partes a grupos como Excel, Sacred Reich o los mismísimos Nuclear Assault volver a esa época de bermudas, gorras giradas, el N.Y.H.C etc. Eso si con esa mezcla de thrash y hardcore típica que eclosiono en los 80/90 y que tantas alegrías nos dio, sin que hubiesen tantos perjuicios como en la actualidad.

Keny Arkana es una rapera francesa de ascendencia argentina, nacida el 20 de diciembre de 1983. Empezó a rapear en 1996. Formó el colectivo "Mars patrie" y después "Etat Major", triunfando en la escena underground de Marsella, poniendo en venta en 2003 la primera mixtape de "Etat major".
Después de varias apariciones en solitario, Keny Arkana sacó a la venta su primer EP "le missile est lancé" en 2004. Su primer álbum "Entre ciment et belle étoile" (entre el cemento y las estrellas) salió a la venta en octubre de 2006.
Desde el año 2004 forma parte del colectivo La Rage du Peuple, pero no se reivindica como miembro de ningún partido político.

Hailing from Torun (Poland) STAGNATION IS DEATH was formed in 2003. We deliver blend of anarcho-core and deathpunk. In 2004 we recorded demo tape titled '11.IX.2004'. In June 2005 we entered the studio again and recorded new material for our first record that will come out Fall this year. Besides our common desire of creating and playing music this band is for us mainly a way to express our ideas. After their Demo and their Split LP with Finisterre, this is the third release by this outstanding band from Münster / Germany. These four young people have played countless shows in europe the last two years and should be well known for all those into contemporary melodic HC/Crust. Definetly one of the best bands in this genre coming from germany at the moment.

I expeceted a lot from their new recordings, but what they deliver here exceeded all expectations. An almost fourty minutes thunderstorm in 11 acts, paired with a voice of dispair and accompanied by blistering melodies. The LP comes with a great poster and there's a limited edition of 200 copies on transparent vinyl with green sparkles.

The restly people from Angstzustand have a few problems with this modern society and want to share this with you. So here, their second full length record comes to you filled with a very emotional approach to politics (think CrimethInc.). The Uranus heaviness is still here, but lots of parts also reminded me of Arsen whom they share members with. In some metallic moments I even thought about Catharsis or late Morning Again. This record can give me goosebumps like Catharsis can give me goosbumps and I think it is awesome how heaviness and melody go hand in hand here. I thought that Angstzustand was a great live band and I didn't like it that they were talking about a possible split up when I last saw them. My appreciation for this band is mainly caused by the lyrics and thoughts behind their music and the knowledge that these people actually mean what they have to say.

We don't know who had the brilliant idea to label as "shoegazer" that musician who used to appear onstage with the head down, like staring at his own shoes instead of the audience. We won't say neither if the term is accurate or not, but anyway we think it's appropiate to refer to The Lions Constellation. And not because they look at their own shoes, but by the fact they've been strongly influenced by those bands. Bands that don't appear to be outgoing, neither explosive onstage. They dive into a state of catharsis when they let the amp feedback fill the atmosphere of the venue, when they let the darkness take over the ambience and build their musical discurse through a wall of sound. The listener lets himself go by the decibels in a kind of slumbering trance. That's what The Lions Constellation have to offer: noisy and black poetry, ellegant and subtile, moncohromatic and atmospheric.

They drink from masters like The Jesus & Mary Chain or My Bloody Valentine, but also from Spacemen3, Ride or 13th Floor Elevators. A mix between sixties hippy psichodelia and nineties indie.Though their special personality comes from punk, soul and garage, as this is the background of half of the band, who are renouned and active members of Barcelona's scene: RJ Sinclair, singer of Tokyo Sex Destruction and bass player of It's Not Not, and Graham, Dj of the well-known Apolo [2] dancehall of Barcelona. They hipnotize us and make us balance from one side to another without noticing.

I had been meaning to check out this record from Richmond, VA’s Food. I finally got around to laying down some cash and it arrived this past weekend just in time to sit down and see what the band was all about. After hearing five tracks clocking in at just less than forty minutes, I’d say what they are all about is delivering some face melting low end heavy fuzzed out sludge. These are some pretty killer tunes and not the typical kind of drawn out slow churning stoner sort of fuzz that I generally shy away from.

While essentially anything like this will get some Melvins comps Food brings the full force rocking with a pace more so in the way of I’d say Floor or possibly Buzzov*en (sans vocals/samples), especially with the grimy outsider/downer feel the record manages to convey. While the songs are typically stretched out and fairly lengthy Food have no trouble maintaining the intensity and riffage for the duration, stopping for a breath here and there only to amp things right back up and in your face. All I know is that it’s heavy, loud, and that I dig it. Here is to hoping that despite the time it took the band to record this monster (over three years I hear) that more material shows up sooner rather than later or if it all. For now though, give this a listen.

The last years a couple of nice atmospheric rock/metal/hardcore bands were born in France. Year of No Light, Overmars and Asidefromaday are the best examples and L' Homme Puma can be added to this trio. They are instrumental and operate mostly in the alternative rock spectrum although I also see musical similarities with Burst (for example at the end of "Surtout dans les coins").

L'Homme Puma released a first ten tracks EP in June of 2007 on the label Communication Is Not Words which has been widely reviewed on the web and in the paper press. In 2008, they recorded their first album in Geneva with Thierry Van Osselt (Shora, Honey for Petzi, Shovel, Nostromo, Time to Burn). Twelve tracks were written throughout 2007 among whose nine will figure on the new opus."On Remplace Les Yeux Cassés" will be out in February 2009.

French speeches and electronic interludes (sampling and beats) are woven through autonomous music. It makes L' Homme Puma an interesting new band in this popular genre. In "Toy Division" they share the same atmosphere as the Germans from Long Distance Calling; due to the electronic stuff you can't call them copycats. The nine songs are driving forward like a soundtrack for a drama film.

One of the highlights is the song "Catherine Deneuve", the melancholic atmosphere is slowly taking over the natural temper of the music, as if L' Homme Puma wants to take the listener into a bad mood. Later, in "Plaisir d'offrir", they show glimpses of hope by introducing hopeful xylophone and keyboard sounds. It’s also a way to show how bright the future can be.

With 'On Remplace Les Yeux Cassés' the future looks bright for this French.

Post-rock, in case you're a neophyte, is a genre of alternative rock defined by the use of common rock instruments for non-rock purposes. Guitars and drums are standard, but the rhythms, harmonies, melodies, timbre, and chord progressions used are not found in the rock tradition. Basically, your typical post-rock song will consists of long guitar jams that explore layers of sound in order to create a certain mood. It is a genre that requires not only great technical skill, but a strong melodic imagination. There is quite a considerable number of bands out there in our local scene that dabble in post-rock. Most of them border on only just decent, simply because they lack imagination. There are even fewer bands here that play hardcore post-rock, the darker side of this musical dream-weaving, as this subgenre requires technical mastery and a lucid imagination; which narrows the field of play tremendously. South Jakarta-based GHAUST is one band, however, that manges to thrive beautifully in this dimly lit alley of post-rock. The nightmares constructed by this collective (comprised of Uri A. Putra (guitar) and M. Edward (drums)) are built with the utmost precision. The layering of instruments, the slow but steady progression of hard chords, the grinding distortions and the calculated drums are dispersed in careful doses that guide the listener through each space of the somber realm of their musical machinations.

After a few online releases, as well as participation in various compilations, this year saw the release of GHAUST's self-titled full length debut LP, available nationwide through Purbaharuan Recordings. This powerhouse of an album is guaranteed to take you to corners of your imagination previously untouched by other bands. This record is truly mind-blowing; as you read, I'm still picking up the pieces of my brain that were scattered across the floor upon my first listen. It immediately gets a place on my list of 2008's Top Five Local Releases.

GHAUST is an experience the listener would never want to, or be able to forget. Their music will seep into the nooks and crannies of your mind and build little grim empires in your subconscious. I am truly curious as to how their sound will evolve in the future. I will definitely keep my eyes on these guys. This is exactly what I expected from the cover, which prominently displays a skeleton chugging a beer while flying through the streets in his coffin, dodging sandwiches, forks, shoes and...boobs? The lyrics are in Spanish, so I habe no idea what they're saying, but these dudes play fast hardcore punk and they keep it fairly interesting by introducing parts that aren't straight-up punk. I think I would like this better if the vocal melodies were less cheesy, because the music is pretty good and full of energy. The guitar is less distorted and more trashy than it might on your typical hardcore recording, but it sounds good and sometimes reminds me of bands like INSOMNIO, but slightly faster and not quite as catchy. Also, I would probablt hate these dudes if I ever met them.

As fun as it is to get a new album by a band you already like, it’s way more fulfilling to get a release from a band you’ve never heard of that completely blows you away. Enter Make Do And Mend did with “Bodies Of Water”. These dudes originally released this 6-song EP for free earlier this year through the internet. But then the people over at Panic Records scooped this baby up and provided it with an official release.Imagine a band that likes their post-hardcore as melodic as they like it powerful while combining the gruff vocals that Hot Water Music is known for with the explosive nature of The Lonely Kings.

Throw in a fair bit of No Motiv when you’re referring to the mellower moments on this release and you can see the potential, right?Make a mental note of this band and when March 31st comes around and you just cashed in your paycheck, don’t forget to pick up your copy of “Bodies Of Water”. Como las cosas realmente buenas, la propuesta de Mozu no se disfruta al cien por cien a la primera, sino que debe de hacerse sin prisas, poco a poco, hasta que te inunda por completo con su mezcla de rock personal y letras urbanas a medio camino entre el nihilismo y un extraño optimismo funambulista. Si hablamos de referentes, resulta difícil encuadrar el sonido del trío madrileño: tan pronto recuerdan a los Come más desesperanzados como se sumergen en las tranquilas aguas de los arpegios infinitos de bedhead y aquella bendita hornada de bandas nacidas al amparo de las discográfica Touch & Go en los primeros años noventa (de Tar a Cell), europeizando aquel sonido, centrándose en la vertiente más pop de aquello al tiempo que se acercan a la propuesta de nuevos compañeros de generación como los indispensables Zoo, o clásicos cercanos como los granadinos Lagartija Nick.

Las canciones de “Ciudadano zero”, lejos de ensimismarse, buscan nuevos horizontes en la paleta estilística de la banda, nuevos retos sonoros inexplorado en su trabajo anterior, el recomendable EP de debut “La fábrica del dolor y el olvido” (2007), que procuran en una nueva ración de música honesta y libre de ataduras comerciales condensada en nueve canciones que dejan con ganas de más.

Mozu continúan fieles a sí mismos, a su bola, creando un universo musical propio que se expande hacia rincones de rock inteligente poco visto por aquí. Sin prisa pero sin pausa, como todo lo realmente bueno.
