The name - Damezumari is a term from the board game Go. It refers to a situation where a stone or group of stones, which you have played, is in a difficult position that is nearly impossible to salvage. It is usually translated as "shortage of liberties". More generally, it means 'stuck in a rut you can't get out of' or, more simply, screwed. Damezumari, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, play a great sounding style of Emo, Screamo, and posthardcore influenced by bands such as Fugazi, Ethel Meserve, Toe, Stop It!!!, City Of Caterpillar, Braid,Off Minor, and Jawbreaker. Damezumari are highly underrated and overlooked by the DIY scene in the US. Here is their discography so far. Defintely a must. Enjoy!
