Reaching Away formed in 2009 from the remains of The Pine, who are currently on a five year indefinite hiatus a la Fugazi. Reaching Away pick up where The Pine Left off and play 90's influence emo rock similar to bands such as The Hated and Evergreen. Reaching Away continue with a similar dark and somber style found with the Pine, but incorporate more of a mellow, acoustic, almost folky sound than ever before. Lyrically and stylistically, Reaching Away keep the Evergreen and Hated sound, but also add a folk tinge seen played by bands such as Pygmy Lush. Push Away The Moon is a great debut lp from Reaching Away and shows a natural progression from the music played by the Pine. Highly recommended! Pick up a copy while there are copies left. I believe this record is only limited to 500 copies.
