Long time readers of the blog know I'm a huge Sinaloa fan and this release is testament to the unique diversity the band uses when crafting honest, sincere, and generally amazing music. Sinaloa is an emo/post hardcore band from Massachusetts, USA featuring members of Ettile Vyre and Ache. Sinaloa's sound is often compared to the distant early nineties scene of Vermin Scum, Dischord, Ebullition, and Gravity Records. Sinaloa brings the fire of that era's DIY punk sound and combines it with a grown-up sensibility and a lot of life experience. Sinaloa's sound can be described as being emotive, driving, with heartfelt anthems full of dueling vocals, meandering melodies, and slow-burning crescendos. At times Sinaloa incorporates horns and strings such as upright bass into their music. Chapel & Basement is newly realized take on their signature sound. Chapel & Basement features Oceans Of Islands in it's entirity rearranged and recorded acoustically. The cassette is called Chapel & Basement because it was recorded in a chapel back in 2009. Seriously, this is such a good cassette and I can't begin to describe how well these songs translate acoustically. Enjoy! I can't wait until they release some new material.
