I was recently in contact with Travis from Barrow and was psyched to be given permission to post and review his band's latest album on the blog. Barrow are a Greensboro, North Carolina based band who play an amazing style of music that seemlessly blends hardcore, post hardcore, and elements of screamo with flourishes of post rock into a cohesive formula that makes for an incredible listen. I first became interested in the band after hearing the band's debut 2 song demo released in 2009. It's great to see the band progress tremendously since their demo. Barrow's sound is fuller and more comprehensive on their debut LP entitled Being Without. On their debut LP, the band takes the emotive nature of bands such as Pianos Become The Teeth, La Dispute, and Caravels and add elements of melody and post rock to their sound, which results in eight songs of epic, brutal, and intense music. Fans of Caravels, Pianos Become The Teeth, Elder, and Pyramids take note! Highly recommended! Enjoy!
