Your Highness was established to make heavy riff-oriented music. And going by this debut album, they've succeeded. Call it stoner, sludge or rock n’ roll; it doesn't matter because Your Highness fits somewhere in between. They took old Baroness, Kylesa and the bluesy side of Weedeater as their mayor influences to create this heavy rockin' album.

The essential groove and roughness is present; however the vocals are the weakest point. They are somewhere between a growl and a low voice and flutter around in the music. It just seems they aren't sung with a defined plan and seem to be added at the last moment. They also don't always follow the flow and groove of the music. For example, “The Rivening” suffers from this approach.

If you can get used to this small disappointment there is still a lot to love if you are into the old Baroness sound. Musically, Your Highness is a wilder beast than the new Baroness is. The young band already know how to find the groove and some songs are being graced by a guitar solo. Most of the songs are quick and too the point; however, in (for example) the last song “Hoogheid” Your Highness takes the time and lets the heavy groove roll for a couple of minutes. At these moments these Belgians are at their best! -Asice
