Black Kites-The Last Three Songs (2012)

Country: United States
Genre: Hardcore, Punk
Label: Self Released
Tracks: 3

This post is kind of a bittersweet one for me today. On the one hand, I'm psyched to be writing about three new Black Kites songs. On the other hand, I'm really bummed because these are the band's final recorded material and Black Kites will be officially calling it a day at the end of March. Regular readers of the blog know I'm a huge Black Kites fan and I don't think it'd be an exaggeration to say that Black Kites has been one of the best bands to come out during the past three years. For those of you who don't know the band, Black Kites are a three piece vegan straightedge band from Brunswick, NJ. During the band's existence, Black Kites released two full length albums, which were Advancement To Ruin in 2009 and Songs That Were Written While Things Were Changing in 2010. Black Kites also released two split LP's with NY's Swallowed Up in 2010 and RI's Convulsions in 2011. Black Kites' sound can be best described as being brutally fast, blackened and metallic hardcore/punk with caustically venomous vocals that feel as if the band's literally trying to tear your head off. These last three songs continue in a similar fashion and solidify in my opinion, why Black Kites were one of the best in this genre of music. Amazing, as usual. Highly recommended. On a side note, I'll edit this post with Black Kite's complete recorded discography when I'm more caught up with fixing the dead posts on the blog. In the meantime, enjoy these last three songs and check out Less Life-Today Will Be Ours Lp reviewed earlier on in the blog. Less Life features Tom Schlatter of Black Kites and You And I fame. Less Life is equally as brutal and the band plays a similar style of music with more of a Deadguy slant. Also, try to get a chance see Black Kites live during their last few shows if you live in the Northeast part of the US. They're playing shows in CT and NJ next month. I'm attending their CT show at Redscroll records on March 11th. They're playing with RI's Convulsions and CT's very own Heavy Breath.
